Backside Bigspin
The Classic Bigspin
The Backside Bigspin is the most common form of the Bigspin. It involves a backside 360 pop shove-it while the rider performs a backside 180-degree body rotation. The board spins behind the rider, making it feel more natural for many.

🎯 Spin it Back
This is a fundamental spin trick that looks great and is a stepping stone to many more advanced tricks. It is a perfect way to add style to your skating on any terrain.
👟 Foot Positioning & Weight Distribution
1. Front Foot Position
Place your front foot a little lower than usual, near the halfway point of the board, and angled slightly forward. This gives the nose more room to come up and rotate.

2. Back Foot Position
Place your back foot on the center of the tail, slightly towards the toe-side. This is crucial because it makes the center of the tail strike the ground, ensuring a balanced pop and preventing the board from flipping.

1. The Windup
A proper windup is crucial. Squat down and get your back shoulder over your front toe. This deep, rotated squat gives you the power needed for the board to spin a full 360 degrees while your body spins 180.
2. The Launch
Combine your upward jump (extension) with your rotation. Do not rotate while you are still squatting. Jump and rotate at the same time to effectively transfer the power from your body to the board.
3. The Pop (Tail Strike)
As you jump, throw your tail down, back, and slightly forward, like you are bowling. The key is to jump off the board *before* the tail strikes the ground. This allows the board to bounce up into the air.
4. Staying Flat
To prevent the board from flipping, ensure the center of your tail hits the ground. If you hit the toe-side or heel-side edge, it's very likely to flip. Your back foot position is key to controlling this.
5. Front Foot Control
Your front foot does very little. It stays put and acts as a catch and a balance point. Do not try to help the rotation with your front foot; all the spin comes from the windup and the pop.
Golden Tip!
The two keys are the windup and the pop. Get your back shoulder over your front toe in a deep squat before you pop. Then, make sure you strike the ground with the center of your tail to keep the board from flipping.
⚠️ Common Mistakes
Board flips over: You are striking the ground with the edge of your tail instead of the center. Adjust your back foot to be more centered on the tail.
Board doesn’t spin 360: You need more power from your windup. Make sure you are getting your back shoulder over your front toe and squatting deep.
Falling off the back of the board: You are leaning back too much. Work on a better loading phase to stay centered.
